I'd like some comment/feedback on mixing D37 and a. sp winkelfleck

I'm upgrading my winkelfleck aquarium from 29 to 100 (48x24) and wanted some feedback on if it is feasible to mix these two species in an aquarium of that size. My understanding is that both species are relatively peaceful and they are in different complex so cross breeding shouldn't be an issue. The question is that if reasonably well scaped will they be able to establish their own territory without violence or is the aquarium too small relative to native habitat ?

I guess it depends on the number of fish and what "well scaped" means. Both fish are from the regani-lineage and have similar body shapes and finnage. I personally wouldn't do it. It would be more likely to be successful with 2 species from different lineages and different body/fin shapes.

Would d39 work better ? They are at least in a different lineage and a bit smaller though i guess the general body shape is the same. THe only other fish i can think of is a. lineta but they require warmer water and aren't readily available (been looking for them for about 3 years now).

as for numbers - i have 2 f and 1 m winkelfleck and some number of frys - i'll find out how many monday - some are 1/8 to 1/4 inch others are close to 1 inch; for whatever i add it would likely be 4 young ones.

Ok. I think i have a plan - the winkies will get the 90 pretty much to themselves. I have at least one very nice young male fry so we will try a small colony. The d39 will get the winkies 29 and everyone will be happy.
