hello what would people recomend when setting up a 150ltr tank for some apisto rotpunkt, what ratio male:female would be good for this size tank, any tips on plants, wood and substrate would be great and any dither fish that can be kept with these safely during times of spawning any help and advise is apreciated thanks

A. cf. alacrina Rotpunkt is a great fish to start off with apistos. The females are usually excellent mothers and the species doesn't require special water conditions. The Rotpunkt males can get large and become aggressive to other males, but less than some of the more aggressive apistos. Personally, I would suggest a trio. Make sure that the aquarium is properly decorated, with well-delineated territorial boundaries and many different breeding sites.

thanks for the reply some good advice and info cheers and i currently have a pair of cockatoos that have young is it normal for the female to chase the male away when she has the young out this is their first time with young aswell and they only came out of their cave this morning any advice on raising the young would be great thanks

Not only will she chase the male but if there are any other fishes in the tank them as well.

they are in a tank on their own but will i be ok to leave the male in their with her and the young or should i seporate them

Depends on how hostile she is towards the male. Some are pretty mean some aren't so much. If you're worried just put the male in a seperare tank.

shes not too bad towards him just nudges him when she is out with the fry maybe just to sort of say stay their don't move lol am just going to leave him in their for now and see if it gets worse if it does ill take him out for now cheers
