My A. miua female just brought out her batch of free swimming fry. Water parameters are pH 4.5, TDS 120 ppm, and temp 78 degrees F. I thought early on that it was difficult to tell the sexes apart. I did not see much sexual dimorphism. The male had more orange on the face and the anal fin had the parallel stripping that Mike mentioned in a recent post. The female was almost the same color. She had very faint darker ventral fins but at times the fins were not any darker than the male's. The female also had clearly visible vertical banding on the caudal. When guarding the eggs she had only slightly more yellow coloring. With the fry she is more yellow but no where near as yellow as most apistos get. The photo exaggerates her yellow coloring with her fry.
