Pre-Sales List from Below Water (Oliver Lucanus)

Below Water is Oliver Lucanus' business in Canada (Montreal). Oliver has spent a lot of time and effort developing many export contacts from many of countries in South America and Africa, and he manages to bring some of the rarest fish from those countries.... to Canada. Oliver and I are going...

    Apistogramma Blackchin/Swarchkinn

I think that the fish without the black on its first few dorsal rays and less black on the ventral fins may be a male. Small males are very similar to females.

    A Few Pictures...

    A. betaeniata 'Shishita' A. agassizii 'flamengo' A. sp 'Melgar' - This pair is spawning right now. Nanochromis splendens - This is a bad picture from a photo tank the day that the fish arrived. I have two groups set up, but they are extremely shy.

    A. bitaeniata Rio Tigre

If I need the pH to be low, I use RO water and let the leaves drop the pH. In my opinion, water cleanliness and low conductivity is more important than a low pH.

    A. bitaeniata Rio Tigre

I breed most apistos in 10-gallon tanks. I usually start with two pairs, and then remove the male that ends up being the non-dominant fish. I also have a lot of hiding places in the aquarium away from the spawning sites. The tank is positioned end-out. The sponge filter is in one back...

Albertini got back to me and said this fish was collected in 'ampiacus'. Is that the same as Ampiyacu?

    Apistogramma viejita

I got a box of these in from the collector, but they were time bombs. They were harboring something and almost all of them fell apart about three weeks after they arrived. I heard from almost all the buyers the same week. Weird. The collector has since left the export house he was working...

    What is this apisto?

I know what it is not... it is not what was supposed to be sent. I do know that this fish was collected in Peru, in the border area with Equador. I am waiting on confirmation of the river system... if the exporter knows. young male Older male female

    Some questions regarding Apistogramma norberti

Those random black marks are skin parasites. They will not harm the fish, and will not be passed on to fry. The parasite has a second host, a bird that eats the fish, in order to complete its life cycle
