I've found the recent "Wallaci" pikes to be very aggressive towards each other. They tend to leave the non-cichlid fish alone, so some tough tetras species should be fine. I would be careful with apistogrammas. I've found the two to be bitter arch enemies. There seems to be a genetic hatred...
HI, I am not opposed to shipping to the UK, but from people I have talked to, it doesn't sound simple and I don't have time to figure/work it out. If someone can get work out all the details so all I have to do is send the fish, then I am game.

Jeff,
Are those the Biotoecus sp. Tapajos that came in from Aqua Glaser? I had them, spawned them, then lost the breeding group. Just have the fry that are growing out.

I got some from Greg Steeves several years ago and they have done well for me. I've found them to be good tankmates for Victorian cichlids. Males hate each other, that is for sure. And they can be a tough on the females. I try to keep 1 male/2 female ratio in larger tanks (55G) and that...
I am thinking about taking the plunge and getting a REAL digital camera to take some nice pictures. I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations, maybe a top 3 list? I've heard good things about Canon and Nikon, in particular. I'm looking at spending $600-1000...

White Apisto elizebethae?
One of the first pictures I ever saw of Apistogramma elizabethae was the leucotic(white) form. I thought they all looked that way but after buying many pairs I've never seen the white form in the flesh. Does anyone have them? Pictures?
Steve
I've seen it, too
I've seen it before, too. Always fatal. I was told the "black face" (which in the cases I've seen was always unilateral) was a symptom of some kind of severe stress (stroke?). I've noticed it only in South American Dwarfs. Did not seem to be contagious.

Rare Westies
Ted et. al.,
This thread got me thinking about all the West African Cichlids we'd like to see availible and I was wondering if the reason we don't see many of them is because they are so darn nasty to each other. I say this because over the last year two species which have...
I need a male. I have a very pretty female. In reality I'd buy whatever is availible. Anyone know why these don't show up wild caught anymore? Seems only fish I can find are from the Czech breeders.
Steve
Atlantis Tropical Fish brings in wild caught T. candidi whenever he can (which isn't often).
He also get czech bred T. candidi.
You're right, they are hard to find.
I've got a few extra males, if you need any.

I know Poecilocharax weitzmani is not a cichlid, but I was wondering if anyone has had success breeding them? I've got several nice males and plump females but can't get them to get busy. I know they breed in a cichlid-manner (very un-tetra like). There one of my favorite fish so I'd like to...
