Hi everyone,

This a photo and video of my Apistogrrama SP.
Some friends here that grow Apisto' for some years now ID them as A. megaptera.
They are WC and where smaller then now.
Hope you can put some light on this and try to ID it yourself.

I need to disagree this.
The LFS is my friedn for fishing for the last 7 years now (once in week we go fishing)
He is growing cacatuoides for the last 12 years now.
He is not sure that is A. megaptera so he label them as SP.
others that grow thought it is A. megaptera (not the LFS).

They are still very young fish. I take a group of 11 becuse we can't ID for sure most of them as male or famle.

I will try to take another video of them in the care' aquarium they are.

I have both fish (cacatuoides-wild and megaptera F1) and it's not even close. The belly stripes in your fish are a VEY good diagnostic tool for cacatuoides ID. Also, if they were megaptera the bottom edge of the anal fin would be starting to show a nice black color already they the fish would not have any belly stripes but more of a broken series of angled marks.

I hope they grow fast and then we can see what they are.
In the stock list from the Colombiam supplier there is no cacatuoides.
Thous fish was describe as "Apistogramma SP. new"

I hope after the grow we can truly know what they are.

Thank you all my friend and I will keep you update!

Well, they look like A. cacatuoides to me, too. I collected A. cacatuoides in Colombia near Leticia and in Peru on the Putumayo, the border river between Colombia and Peru, so A. cacatuoides does occur in Colombia.
