I've been in Tamshiyacu several times

This area is the home of Apistogramma panduro:

and Apistogramma cf. agassizii "Pastel":

and Apistogramma cf. agassizii "Butterfly":

and amazingly we've also found an Apistogramma cf, norberti there, which lacks the diagnostic black patch in the posterior part of the dorsal fin:

Of course a lot of other species lives here too.
It would be a shame if the habitats now are in danger / ruin!

In 2012, we noticed that new huge roads were built out in the forest:

In the nearby Tahuayo area the locals clear the forest to cultivate pineapples:

Do you know if this could be the purpose of cutting down the forests here, themountain?

I am afraid its more serious this time...First of all they do not have a permission to cut down all this trees , second its said that they will drill for oil there even when the area is not a certified oilfield!
In Loreto rules the law of the wild west ....who got the money tells everybody how its done .....very frightening.:(

Best get breeding all these lovely rare fish that may get wiped out! Not to mention the amphibians and inverts.

Well...that was last year, now they have oil spill in Rio Tigre , major issues with illegal logging and mining in Manu and on the border to Acre /Brasil. And that is only the things you get to know here :(
