Hello dear Masters,

I couldn't reach the masters from the chat room. I think there is a technical problem in the chat room.

I wonder if the Apistogramma species whose pictures I shared is called Ortegai? Thank you very much in advance for your answer...

Good days..

At least I think these fish are Apistogramma. I would be glad if the masters could tell me the species of the ones in the picture. Good day...

Definitely it is not A. ortegai, which shows a double caudal patch. The photo are really bad. This fish is not blue and apparently not fully mature. Like Frank, without better photos of mature specimens I would not even hazard a guess.

Unfortunately. These are the pictures shared by the commercial company. I don't know if we can share videos here either. I apologize for taking up the time of the masters....

No apology necessary. we'd love to help you. But we'll need better pictures, sorry.
Thank you for your interest, Mr. Master. What do you think is the probability that the fish in the picture are Apistogramma Sp. Steel Blue? Good day...

Adding my two cents.

They appear to be juvenile Macmasteri. They are not quite mature, despite their size. Many juvenile Apistogramma of different complexes look like that.

Easily discounted as Ortegai, though. Quite a claim by the vendor.

Hello, masters. This time I am disturbing you to ask whether this female and male are Apistogramma Purple. I wish you a good day.

The male is Apistogramma Borellii. The female is probably Apistogramma Cacatuoides.

There is no such thing as Apistogramma Purple.

Sorry, they are neither.

One of the A. ortegai species is often traded as A. ortegai "purple" or similar names.
And I think that's the case here.
Thank you, Mr. Master. I bought it because it was brought commercially as Colombia F0 under the name "Purple". This time the right fish came and we got it. I wish you a good day.

But as far as I know the A. cf. ortegai "Purple" I mentioned are from Peru. So something is wrong here.

That's right, I know, Mr. Master. The fish are of Peruvian origin, but the imports that come to us are from Colombia. I wanted to point that out. Good day...

Technically, the fish is labeled A. cf. ortegai (Pebas). "Purple" is more of a commercial term for a color morph. There are several different color variants under names like "Ampiyacu", "Dolly", "Big-foot", "Morado/Purple", and "Naronha". I would not worry about these color variant names, just enjoy the fish.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
