Thanks for posting. I'm not sure if 'flamenco' is an actual specific form (one can see many different agassizii forms on the internet called 'flamenco') - from what I recall though, "agassizii flamenco" originate from Peru.

To my mind the form pictured by Tom C. is the "true" flamenco form, but again that could be an arbitrary designation applied to several color variations on a theme, so to speak.

What I can say is that you have a very nice form of agassizii that do show some similarities to the form shown on Tom's website, especially in the yellow to orangish dorsal fin. Tom's fish shows a lot of blue color on the sides, which your males do not have. So if Tom's fish, as it is, is the 'flamenco' standard, then I would not really call your fish 'flamenco'. But what does that really matter. You've got wild aggies that look cool!

May I ask where who you got your fish from? I know wild agassizii labeled 'blue' have been available from Wetspot in Oregon, so I'm curious if you got yours from there.

Nice photos and fish - good luck with them. Hopefully you can breed them. If you live in the U.S., maybe someday we can trade offspring - I'm working with wild A. agassizii 'Alenquer Barra Mansa.

The Flamenco color morph of A. agassizii is from the Río Tigre. On my species list it is listed as A. agassizii (Rio Tigre). Unless you know that your fish are from the Tigre, don't call the Flamenco. To me your fish look like a nice red dorsal color morph found in many river systems in Peru.

There are really no rules for commercial names. To me they are A. agassizii, wild specimens, with a red dorsal, but I don't see much blue on the body (maybe not visible in photos). You can give it any descriptive name you want, so long as it is true.

Not just yet, I want to give the juvies more time to grow out so that I can get a better handle on M/F ratios. When I can I'll let you know. Which male is from Wetspot and which from Batfish?
Thanks.

The 13th and 14th pictures are a male from Batfish. All the other ones are from Wetspot. Please let me know once you have fish for sale. I hope it is soon! Best.
