Why is Apistogramma hiding

Any aquatic live foods have the possibility of carrying fish diseases - especially if harvested from outdoor sources whose water has contact with wild fish. Live aquatic foods produced indoors are much less likely to carry diseases. As for your aggie, it's hard to ID a fish from one photo. Right now it looks more like A. cf. agassizii (Netz/Net) form to me.

Makes sense. I don't feed love foods very frequently so I've never experienced them transmitting diseases.

As for my apistogramma ID, I'll include some more pictures. What makes you think it's an agassizii Netz form?

The Netz form shows dark margins around each scale with a lighter interior. This forms a net-like pattern on the flanks. A. sp. Tefé shows a dark margin only at the bottom of each scale. This makes the wavy lines on the flanks. I still can't say which form you have based on the 3 photos, but still tend to think it is a Netz form. I could be wrong, of course. I suggest you look at the fish in different moods and decide for yourself which of the above patterns matches your fish.
