Hello!!

Several months ago cacatuoides male had a white speck on the wing and recently he began to swell up to take form of a blackhead, it looks like a cyst or a parasite or something. I have been looking in internet but I found nothing has happened to someone something? or know what it is? I attached a photo.

Hi all,
Because your fish has had this for some time, and looks generally healthy I think it may be "lymphocytisus."

This can be contagious, and isn't treatable, but your fish should eventually recover. If you can you are advised to quarantine the fish, and give it very high quality water until the growth disappears.

cheers Darrel

To me it looks like one of the encysted worms that commonly occur on pond raised livebearers. To reproduce, these worms require a secondary host (usually a bird to eat the fish), so in an aquarium they aren't contagious. You can let it stay on the fish where it will eventually fall off and die or do as I do. Take a needle, open the cyst and scrape out the worm. Then apply a little alcohol with a Q-tip to the open cyst and clean water will heal the site.

Thanks to all

I've looked at the lymphocytisus in internet, but I didn't found nothing like what is happening to my fish. I will continue searching...
I'm not able to get off the fish the worm manually. For now I will Keep the water very clean and wait to see what happens.

My fish has a good and normal behavior (even a little aggressive) hahaha.

bye

Since the growth/cyst is in the dorsal fin, I would physically remove it. Cutting, scraping or pulling it off will not harm the fish and fins grow back very well.
