Hi All,
I have been a lurker on your forum for a while and have finally decided to post. I have been keeping and breeding dwarf cichlids for the last few years and they are currently one of my favourite fish. Sadly here in Canada it is difficult to find quality sources, and when we do they are often quite expensive. Thankfully I make it down to Ohio for the extravaganza every year and am able to source some there.
Down to my question. I have a very nice mega red pair of Apisto. Cacatouides. The female has been in her breeding colors (Bright yellow with black pectorals and a black stripe on the face) for the last month or so. The male does not seem interested at all. Is their anyway to peak his interest,
Some tank facts:
15 gallon
Sand substrate
Three terrapot caves
Inhabitants: Pagoda snails, sulawesi rabbit snails and the pair of mega red cacatuoides
Water conditions: 75 RO and 25 tap (we have liquid rock here)
Feeding Schedule: Live Blackworms 3 times a week. A mix of spirulina, beefheart, brine and earthworm flakes one or two times daily. Frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp and krill from time to time.
Temperature : 79 degrees.
The male seems lazy. Mostly cruising around the bottom. He is eating just fine and is nice and plump.
Any suggestions?
