Hi.
I recently acquired two seeds of the semi aquatic plant Typhonodorum lindleyanum (aka Water Banana and some other names). Currently they float on the surface and started to grow.

Has anyone experience with or thoughts on this plant, in an aquarium?

I'm excited about them, but i'm not sure if they will make sense in an aquarium. Especially if the roots can be integrated in a way that doesn't look bad.

I'm always interested in semi-aquatic plants, as long as it's possible to combine them with a lid (means they have a stem which goes through the lid and they grow their leaves above the lid).

Martin

I'm wondering if the roots might be able to pierce the silicon. That's my only concern and it came to my mind just the moment I read what you wrote.
Otherwise I'd love to have one myself. :)

Just to wrap this thread up:

For a while they were fast growing nice to look at emersed plants.
But after some months i lost them to lice.
The leaves that exceed the lid of the tank and are permanently dry seem to be prone to lice.
I guess in nature they are exposed to rain on a daily basis so lice get washed away.
So i think this plant only works indoors if you manually moisturize the leaves frequently, which is a kind of work i didn't want to do, so i had to say goodbye to this plant.

I've attached the last image i made before they got lice.

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
