Well, after years of wanting to do it, I finaly took a trip up to Montreal to see Oliver Lucanis (www.belowater.com). Definately worth the trip. I picked up 2 pairs of A. uaupesi and a trio and a pair of A. iniridae. I also got some cool species of banjo cats. The females are white! He is going to Peru soon, and i'm going to make another trip up there when he gets back. i used to think it was a hell of a long trip for fish, but i'll be going back as soon as I can! I took a few pics, that i'll post as soon I figure out how to post here. Those of you who like westies should get in touch as he has alot of nice westies in now.

Lucky you!!

Us people from the province of Quebec are doomed to only hear about all the nice stuff from there. Only a few priviledged people are able to access or buy fish from Oliver :(

The reason for that : he does not want to compete for sales, as he sells to fish shops in the province.

He won't even sell mail order, or any other way like that to people in Quebec :?

Yep, right on!!

As long as the people that go there to buy fish are not from the province of Quebec, they are ok!

Next time you come up to Montreal, drop me an e-mail, I'd be more than happy to meet you!!

A group of us in Nova Scotia purchased from Oliver without any problem. Perhaps his selling to local shops was part of an agreement that was made. I know that Big Al's, a Canadian company, sells their product online for the same price as their retail stores. Cross over to their US site and you'll see a huge markdown as they don't have to honor any commitment to a non-existent franchises in the US. Always gets to me because the prices, though in US$ are still 50% or more, less than the Cdn site. I usually get a friend or relative to bring them back to Canada when they come back. All I'm saying is I can relate to Quebecers not being able to purchase from BW.

I went on to the site (www.belowwater.com [two w's there]) and there is an order form where he indicates quebec residents will be charged PST. I guess that means he is selling within the province of Quebec now.

I just ordered some bitanneia and trifasiata (spelling are all wrong but I think your all know what I'm taking about  ) from Oliver. Havne't receivied them yet as there's a problem with sending the fish by bus.... but I should be meeting him in Brockville to pick up the fish in weekend.

I cant commend for the quality of the fish yet obviously.... but he's very quick in responding to emails and questions, definitely a nice person to deal with.

BTW, when I was asking him, he said minimum order is $200. But I *think* he's not very strict on that, but don't quote me on it :)

Please post pics of his fish rooms
