top for aquarium

hi do i need a aquarium cover? i do have lots of floating plants (i am thinking of taking the covers off i think it will make the plants grow better) aquariums are for A,baenschi and A,bitaeniata

I have never had an apisto that is a 'jumper'. I like covers because they keep humidity in the house manageable... but I have 73 aquariums....

I think virtually any fish can jump if frightened enough.Like Ted Ive not noticed that Apistos are jumpers but I have lost a lovely wild caught A panduro from jumping,so better safe that sorry.The evaporation issue is another good reason to cover

I've had a wild A. bitaeniata male jump. I keep lids on all my tanks.

Covers reduce evaporation, keep fish from jumping out and retain their heat better.
I have multiple tanks and do not need any extra humidity. Covers are worth it no matter how you look at them.
