There are some Tilapia mamfe up for sale on AquaBid. Do you know anything about this species? I couldn't find much on the web other than they have a reputation of being fairly aggressive. Thanks.

I talked to a person at the OCA show in November who had one in the show and was also trying to sell it. Anton Lamboj describes the Cross River 'Mamfe' as possibly being T. guineensis. The person at the OCA liked his fish, but for some reason was under the impresion that it is supposed to be a 'dwarf' cichlid. I have seen this fish listed as 'a small Tilapia', but never as a dwarf. Lamboj describes the fish as growing to a size of 25 cm.. so about 8 inches. The reason the person was trying to sell it was because it had grown larger than what he wanted.

It is reportedly an easy fish to breed, whcih is why we are seeing a lot of them becoming available on AB and through other sources.
