He, he. Only goes to show how much a wild blue ram differs from the aquarium strains of this species. It's a blue ram (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi):)

I'm no expert, but that looks like it could be an altispinosa to me. I don't know. The shape of the tail and the reddish tint on the top and bottom edge make me wonder.

It looks like a Biotodoma species to me....but I´m not an expert.
Did you get that Laetacara sp. Buckelkopf in the same shipment?

Best regards/ Per

The first pic is an Apisto. But I think that's what you said in the post. The following two pics look like a Biotodoma, although the lateral spot is very far forward compared to any of the species I've got. (B.cupido, sp. Aripuana, and cupido "Santarem)

Never mind! Lab was right. It's a blue ram. I just looked at a few more Biotodoma pics and that lateral spot just isn't right.

It may be a bit of a disappointment to you now, but let me assure you that it has potential. A wild blue ram is something else. I prefer it to the aquarium strains, but most other people do not, because they are quite shy, so when you see them at the store they look dull. Another thing they got going for them is a very strong brood care instinct:)

There is no disappointment issue here but curiosity. If it is indeed a wild blue ram its really amazing since it looks and acts like a different fish. I'll give it a few more months and update again.
Thanks

I agree with lab. Once a wild Orinoco Ram matures, its colors are spectacular! I have found A. sp. Schwarzkehl/Black-throat (= L&S A. viejita CF III) in with wild Rams. Rams also live together with A. hoignei. Based on only one photo I cannot say what it is.
