I've been doing some additional reading up on my L. dorsigera (thanks for the correct ID over in the ID section...they're growing nicely and getting gorgeous colors. I'm still not sure if I have a pair or not - only time will tell.
However, I was searching for information on temperature because I recalled reading that they could handle cooler temperatures. Then, I found references to them being as far south as Ayolas in Paraguay, and Kullander reported them in the Rio Parana and Rio Paraguay in Argintina, too. Further research turns up the Argentinian towns of Corrientes and San Cosme as well as the Chaco Austral region.
My knowledge of Argentina's geography isn't the strongest, but I'm pretty sure these locations in Argentina are sub-tropical if not temperate...which makes me wonder should these guys be kept, at least seasonally, at significantly lower temperatures like many Geophagus are?
Thanks,
Eric
