Hi apistophiles,
I have a pair of spawning cacs in a 72g heavily planted tank. Two of their fry have reached a good size, and I believe I have a male & a female juvenile. Question 1: will the male Dad and the male juvenile fight? I know I can keep multiple females.
Question 2: I have a pair of panduros in a separate 10 g. What would happen if I put them in the big tank with the cacs? Not a good idea? (just wondering--not seriously considering).

With cichlids, iincluding cacatoides, the new male may learn to co-exist, may be harassed once at breeding age, or may kill his father. In a large 72 gallon tank, I would say that they will coexist. However, if one is a mean little thing, then be warned.

Same with Panduro. Both cacs and panduro are tough little apistos which means they may split up the territory, or there may be a disaster.

For what its worth, I have often tried to keep more than one male in the same tank, it has ended about 75% of the time with the weaker male ending up dead one day.
