Thanks everyone for your help although I think the fun is over for now. I spotted eggs yesterday with the female guarding however now hey have disappeared, is there a chance she has eaten them? I read that they may move them elsewhere but she doesn’t seem to be guarding any cave like areas of the tank?

Yes, because during early spawns they can easily be spooked and instead of letting the resources get to waste, the females rather eat them.

The eggs cannot be moved by the fish as they have to be reattached to the cave walls and the fish can't do that except when laying them, only freshly hatched wigglers can be moved.

I see, so she must’ve eaten them. Shame. But atleast I know they are indeed a pair and should breed again, this gives me a chance to be better prepared atleast! How long do they usually leave it before trying again?
