Do your fish always show the broad black patch below the lateral band or does it sometimes show wavy abdominal stripes? A couple of French sites show photos of A. cacatuoides from Careiro. These look more like cacatuoides from the Manacapuru area. Careiro and Manacapuru are on opposite sides of the Amazon River, just upstream from the Rio Madeira and Negro. I'd not heard of the species actually coming from the Careiro area, but I'm not really surprised either. Seems like Charlie Eon is importing some interesting fish into France from Brazil.
Thanks for the information Mike. So far (its been a only a few days) the black patch has remained constant. i will see if it constant once he's fully settled.
