I just purchased a pair of Cacatuoides (Double Red) beautiful Male/Female..
I am planning on putting them in a Planted Tank I have had setup for around
6 months now. The Tank is an Oceanic 37 gal. Semi Cube which has a small group of Rasboras in their now.. Will this suffice for these guys???
I am just feeding Tetra Min Flakes at this time. Recommendations?????

Also- I got (3) Agassizzi (Double Reds) 2 males and 1 female I believe..
These were going into a 2' x 1' x 1' (15gal.) Planted tank..
Or, would it be better just to have (2) in there and put the other in another
planted tank I have that have 1 blue ram etc. in it. ( heavily planted)......

Any info. would greatly be appreciated!!
Thank YOU!!!

1. for Cacatuoides, your proposed setting is more than sufficient.
The fish will live very happily in your tank. ^.^
2. for aggie, if i were you, i would put 1 male+1 female in a
breeding tank, and put the remaining male fish with the blue ram in
a planted tank. It can avoid big fight between the two aggie.
^_^

I would feed more than flake. My apistos never seem to eat flake. I generally feed frozen foods such as frozen bloodworm, brineshrimp etc.

Well, frozen food are very attractive to apistos and they will eat them at once. The problem is the parasites and bacteria that will come with the frozen food... so, to be safe, please do sterilise these frozen food before feeding... ^.^

Thanks for the tip blueblue. I think that the ones I buy are Gamma irradiated.

What do you feed and how would you sterilse frozen foods if you were worried?

I thought so too. Most frozen food packaging (eg Hikari) indicates that they are already sterilised.

properly stored modern frozen foods have little or no worry for being a source of infection
the majority are gamma irradiated and safe

Most problems with frozen foods occur when they are not kept completely frozen during transport to the wholesaler, retailer, and home. Steer away from packages that appear to have been refrozen - uneven thickness, lumps or pits, etc.
