Question about rocks/caves

I currently have a 29g set up with a pair of Borellis. I have some PVC pipe used as caves in among the rock work that they have used as spawning sites in the past. I would like to rescape the tank and get rid of the PVC. My question is would the rock work provide adequate space for the pair to claim for spawning? How big would the spaces need to be, and would there be a problem with the fry getting lost in the open rockwork?

Thanks for the help,
Dustin

I use rockwork caves in many of my breeding tanks. Just remember to make sure the rocks rest on the bottom glass. Otherwise some apistos will dig under them and collapse the cave on themselves. I just fill the openings with sand and then excavate a tiny hole in the cave entrance. The female will clean out anything else that she wants.

I tried coconut caves with my trio of cacs. One female took right to one of them, the other ignored hers preferring a fair sized piece of dritwood with a hollow area under it instead. Just a few suggestions for you. :)
