Hi all!

I got a small question for all you plant buffs (-looking at you, darrel)…

Have any of you ever tried using one of the smaller nympheas( or any size for that matter) in a tank setup? -and not “just” use normal zenkeri or whatever the name.

Also i have noticed elocharis (hair grass) is sold in much bigger pots for ponds than for tanks but for more or less same price.
Could they be used in tanks or have been aclimated to their emersive state and would just rot if submerged for longer time?

This spring i’m venturing into a small pond, though no fish are intented for it. Only plants and whatever “fish food” who wants to join.

Tried Nymphoides peltata explicitly sold for pond use. Sadly at one point it died off due to root rott (my mistake, left too much of the stuff around it instead of cleaning it all off, but until then... Leaves shot towards the surface so quickly. About a centimeter an hour.

I haven't tried any of them, but there are links on UKAPS, I'll link them in when I have access to a PC.

Same plant, I've seen Eleocharis in Ireland in the turloughs, where it must spend 90% of it's time underwater.

You just need to just check that it is Eleocharis, not Isolepis, which won't grow under water.

I have a pond like that.

It is rampant, rampant grower. It is native to E. England, but invasive as an introduced plant in this area.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
