Pls help ID

Hi All. I have a female or I think it is a female. I aquired her out of a tank of A. cacatuoides At a LFS and am not sure if she is a cacatuoides so I am posting some pics hoping you all could help me.

Thease are not the best hope the will do thanks ahead for your assistance

I have never seen a wild A. cacatuoides female with such patterning on the tail. My guess is that it is a young male A. norberti.

I have to hand it to you Mike - I do not know how you do it . Some of these species look so much alike to me that I wonder why they are classed as different species and not just different color morphs

What can I say, small details make a big difference. Of course, it helps to have some experience in taxonomy (mine is in paleobiology). If everyone took the time to read Koslowski's 2 books & really understand what he writes, then they would be able to see the subtle differences, too.
