Just bought a 33 long (cool tank, 48" long). Want to set up for a pair of Pelvichromis and a pair of nannochromis. Is there a particular type of gravel that is used. Is there one that helps to keep the PH low ?
Any other important details anyone can share ?
Thanks !

You can try peat in your filter for a long term solution. Wood and almond leaves are also helpful. To my knowledge there isn't a substrate that lowers pH. On the flip side there are many that will increase it.

(This is a long shot, given the date...)

JG, for whom are the peat and leaves for? Pelvies don't need them unless they're inland types and not the types nearer the coast and in the Congo, etc. Those types come from clear(er) running water.
