Pelvicachromis and Nannochromis

Is it possible to keep a pair of Pelvicachromis and a pair of Nannochromis in the same 40 gallon tank (36 x 18)?
It's heavily planted and decorated. Other fish are cory's and tetra's.
Would there be relative peace? Breeding?

Nanochromis & Pelvicachromis

Hello Keith,

Pelvicachromis spp. grow significantly larger than Nanochromis spp. The later would surely lose out in a territory dispute and would not be able to effectively protect their fry. For these reasons, I'd not house species of both genera together, unless the tank was very large (75 gallons or better).

I agree with Randall, I've tried to put a pair of Pelvicachromis taeniatus lobe and one of Nanochromis parilus together (my tank was a little larger than your's), and it triggered a guerrilla among the plants. Furthermore they were too busy to fight to think about breeding. Iwon't do it again, even with dither fish.
