For long term keeping, 80 liters (20 gallons long, not high) is recommended. Some experts will put pairs in as small as 40 liters temporarily for breeding, but not for long term keeping.

25 liters is just far too small for apistos. Nano fish or inverts would be good for this size.

40 cm is 16 inches. What apisto species are you planning?

I agree. 25 Liters is too small. and even experts use 60cm long 54 Liters

The only species that I have ever kept that would be suitable would be A. wapisana. It is small (<4cm/1.5"), unspectacular (ugly) in color and finnage, but interesting breeding behavior.

Kneejerk reaction, because I don't like the classic domestic B. splendens.
I'd rather go Badis or Parosphromenus

There are some interesting blackwater gourami that are quite small.

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
