Hi all,
On a recent trip to my LFS I noticed a tank full of young Pelvicachromis humilis "Kawese". They were stunningly beautiful fish - all a deep plum/purple color, with streaks of neon blue on the cheeks, and a patch of iridescent rainbow scales behind their pectoral fins. All the fish were colored in this way, but when I went online to find some information about them, all the P. humilis "Kawese" pictures I saw displayed a cream-to-yellow colored fish with dark vertical bars, quite different from the ones I saw.
Any idea if the fish were mislabeled, or is the Kawese morph really so different?
I'd like to house a pair of these fish in an empty 29 gallon aquarium I have on hand, along with some West African killies. How does this sound? Any species recommendations for the killies?
Thanks a lot, I appreciate any replies!
