Would you happen to have any pics that more side on? It'll be easier if you could show the fish as if they were at eye level to us. Above them is kind of tough.
I don't think its a Malawi or indeed one of the more common Haplochromine fish as there are no obvious eggspots on the anal fins. Unless of course you can't see them in this pic. At first I did think a Victorian species (and ruled it out for the same reason as above!) but now maybe younger specimens of a Central American species?
More info and much better pictures will be needed for a better ID IMO.
