Hi guys & gals
well, they did it! I placed another clay pot in the male's favorite spot. the female guarded the pot for 4 or 5 days (in & out, in & out)-and I had fry on saturday morning! I had a great time watching her chase the other fish away & pick the fry up in her mouth & spit them out in another spot if they strayed too far.
the bad news is--I didn't get the yoyo loachs out in time (they ARE out now), but come sunday morning, the fry were gone.
How long before they might spawn again? And what happens when the lights go out? Does the female move the fry back in the cave?
The only fish besides the pair now are: 3 plecos, a school of rummys, an SAE and a horse-faced loach (who spends 98% of the time under gravel) and whom I am still trying to catch.
happy mom for one day-
