Can wild-caught Apistos get used to any prepared foods? Any particular brands?

Yes they can, but some won't regardless of how much you try! I had good results with Artemia 50% Softgranulat by Discus Food and Bug Bites Tropical.

I was able to get my wild apisto to eat fluval bug-bites via mixing it with bbs - after they started eating it i stopped feeding bbs and all was well.

I personally would not stop feeding live/frozen foods. I use dry foods (Bug Bites, pellets; mine aren't fond of flakes) as a weekly supplement.

Same here except that I have never stopped giving them bbs. Now they will eat anything! But they still get Artemia and daphnia as well as a homemade food, bug bites tropical and occasionally other dried food as well. I recently got some dwarf pike cichlids, they will not eat dried food, they look at it but don't go for it even when they see other fish taking it. They do eat the frozen (thawed) homemade food though, which is mainly fish and shrimps with a bit of vegetables and dried food blended in.
