Hello everyone! Im new to this forum and I recently have purchased a pair of Apistogramma Cacatuoides. I had them for 2 weeks and I have noticed some odd behavior. I would first like to introduce you to the pair, they are still fairly young.
Female:

Male:

The Situation:
The male has set up his territory from one small pot to another which are about a foot apart. The problem is that whenever the female comes close to either one of these pots, the male will chase her off. He doesn't do this too aggressively, but just enough to get her away from his pots. He only seems to chase her off in particular and not any other fish.
Is this normal behavior for them? Is this their way of forming a bond?
I doubt I have 2 males, but can anyone reassure that the female in the pics above is indeed a female and not a very young male.
Im still very new to Apistogrammas and not familiar with the courtship, so if anyone can help Ill greatly appreciate it!
