Hello,

here is what must have been a mendezi female.

but i have some doubts, not least because of the male's behavior.
every time they meet, both puff up and swish their tails. the male then chases the "female" or even attacks her.

i've just removed her and placed her in another tank with a single female, and they're fighting too ^^.

I'm leaning towards a he; one thing that might help is to hold a mirror up and get it to extend the fins a bit more.

i added a mirror, what violence!!! you can see the male confirmed on the pictures.
the male attacks himself and the "female" attacks herself too.

The easiest way to sex A. mendezi is by looking at the caudal. Males show a pattern in the tail; females are unpatterned. Juveniles and even sneaker males will appear like females.

yes it's true that they are very beautiful,

I hoped to reproduce them...

I'm still hoping it's a female, because today I received a female from a breeding farm. She gets chased and harassed by the male without reacting, and when the other one arrives, she swells up ^^ .
