Nijsenni eggs

My nijsenni have decided to lay eggs on a tick despite having a flower pot in the tank. It gives me a better view of their development and also how the mother tends the egfs.
I’ll try to post a video but the quality isn’t that good.

I never use flower pots; i think they are ugly and when i do have similar places my fishes also think they are ugly and ignore them. However i have had fishes use coconut shell - well my a. sp bluketa did and she really liked it for some reason (i think they are also ugly) but most of my fishes find a nice curved piece of drift wood to use - my a. winkefleck and a. nijjensi certainly did - no clue what my a. wolli did since they refuse to be seen they probably just appear spontaneously. I think my a. sp inspira used her mouth and i hope one day soon my d39's breed. They are lovely eye candy and really tame - they let me watch them unlike the a. wolli which just like to make me angry.

Unless tipped upside down with only a narrow opening most apistos ignore them as spawning sites. The are open too wide.

Now I replaced the flower pot with a coconut. She was in it immediately. We'll see what happens.
I usually use a coconut but ran out of them and was too lazy to get another and clean it out!
I was wondering why my a. Ortega weren't breeding and then realized he grew too big to get in the coconut hole I made....I know that sometimes the male doesn't need to go in there but I'll open the entrance any way.
Going away for 2 weeks...hopefully come back to some fry.
By the way, if anyone wants a good a.Ortega couple and lives in or around Montreal, let me know...
