Howdy all,

I have 2 breeding tanks (2footers) which have both got new fry in them. I'm wondering how long i can leave the male in there for? I know the female is good for a month or so but i'm not so sure about the male. Last time the female killed the male so i didnt have this problem but this time the males seem to be doing well, with the females keeping them away but not attacking them. This is my second spawning so i pretty much know what im doing but just need to know about how long the males should stay?

well I'm actualy on my fifth batch first 2 didn;t make it 3rd is almost size to sell. And my lateest is my first with a solid apisto tank.I'm planning on leaving them in and see what happens.I've notice that the fry seem to be getting bigger than the first saved batch so I figured lets do it and see how it goes unless I feel the need to take daddy out

Im going on holidays in a week and a half and wont be back till mid May so im wondering if they'll last in there for that long. hopefully so, if not i guess i'll just have to salvage what i can. they should be ok, there are no other fish in the tanks so that should help.

Since male apistos usually have no purpose after fertilizing the eggs, all he is then good for is harassing the female. You can remove him anytime. I'm assuming that there are no other fish in the tank other than the fry and the 2 adults.on what they find in the tank. The more bare the tank, the fewer will survive.
