New Apistogramma from Peru

Attatched are 2 pictures of a male of the fish I received last week as well as a picture from Asia of the fish I think they are.

I just found out about an hour ago that they were collected from the Itaya River in Peru.

The Asian picture is labeled
Apistogramma cf. eunotus "Schwanzstreifen”. Schwanzstreifen translates to tail stripe.

Does anyone have any additional info or ID for these?

Somebody quite close to me is offering a similar fish as cf. eunotus and a quick research gives similar results, so at least the eunotus-group seems correct for your fish. Whether it is indeed a "Schwanzstreifen"... I have to pass on that one.

But in the asian picture (the bright blue one, right?) the headshape is odd. The colours have definitely been digitally enhanced, that's just the usual.

It's likely some population of A. cf. eunotus (Schwanzstreifen). The black blotch on the gill-cover is a bit strange. Is it also present on the other side? Can you please post some more photos of the fish, preferably in different moods?

I'll get a pair moved to a decorated tank hopefully tonight or early tomorrow and work on more pics with a real camera then. But here are a few more cell pics.

And yes, they all have that blotch on the gill

If the dark blotch turns into the usual metallic bluish/greenish coloration when the fish color up, it's A. cf. eunotus (Schwanzstreifen). If it stays dark/black, I would regard it as a new species/form.

Are they difficult to care for an/or aggressive polygamous or more gentle like many regani species ? What i mean by more gentle is the level of m/f aggression during breeding cycles.

I ha w found other forms of eunotus to be relatively easy to keep and breed with nothing beyond the normal aggression level of the average Apisto.

The blue color is all but lost with the fish over white sand

Not really, it's the light and the angles of light and camera. The blue in the colouration is not a pigment, it's due to reflection. Just as with Cardinal Tetras and Blue Morpho butterflies. In the right light the reflector scales should be giving the full blue. But it shows the picture from Asia was highly enhanced digitally.
