Hi Everyone,
I’m looking to setup a 50 gallon long tank, heavily planted. Apologies in advance for the essay but wanted to be thorough
Unfortunately I have hard water (~14 dH°) so I’m going to be relying on local tank bred aspistogramma’s as RO water isn’t suitable for me in the quantities needed
From the research I’ve done, it looks like Apistogramma cacatuoides are the most adaptable to these conditions, but please let me know if I’m mistaken. I was thinking of setting up a harem with 1m/3-4 females with plenty of hiding/caves and sand substrate available on the far side of the tank (to minimise “traffic”
I’ve read that many dither fish (with exception of pencil fish) will eat fry but I’m struggling to find suitable suggestions that would work in my water. Does anyone have experience with them in hard water, or alternatively - would lemon tetra’s/dwarf rainbow fish work? (with the expectation that there may be some predation of fry).
Any Advice would be appreciated!
