Nanochromis nudiceps

can anyone give me some information about this fish. currently the tanks in my fish room almost all house sa dwarves but i am interested in trying my hand with so wa dwarf spp. the only ones i have had before are p. pulcher. an lfs in the area has p humilis and n. nudiceps. i know a little about the humilis but absolutely nothing about the nudiceps(other than they are really great looking fish, of course!) the tanks i have available in my fish room are 10g, 15g and 20g long. also a friend i florida may be sending me a pair of n. dimidiatus. i would like to try the nudiceps as well but i don't want to buy them not knowing anything about them, the fish at the lfs are 2-2 1/2 inches, how can i sex these fish with relative certainty. i would like to buy 4 fish but if they can't be reliably sexed yet then i might buy more just to be sure i get a good mix of m/f.

If they are from a pet store, then it is a 99% probability that the fish is Nanochromis parilus. Make a web search on that name.

I agree that they are likely N. parilus... which is good because N. parilus (IMO) is a prettier fish than true N. nudiceps.

At that size they should be easy to sex. The species is very dimorphic. Males will be larger, more elongated and have more red in the fins. Females have a stubbier shape, little or no red in the fins and a pink 'round' belly (unless their bellies are pinched).
