Nannostomus Mortenthaleri and Agassizii

Hello all,

I have a pair of Agassizii, I have recently moved them to a setup together alone for breeding, it is 60x30cm. I am using RO with alder cones and leaf litter to adjust my hard tap water to reach suitable parameters for spawning. Minimal aggression between the two.

A good shop near me has received a shipment from Peru including wild Nannostomus Mortenthaleri - Coral Red Pencilfish.

Please can I ask whether people recommend the use of dither fish with Agassizii at all for spawning and if so - would Nannostomus Mortenthaleri be a suitable fry-safe dither?

Thanks

Nannostomus are all fry safe, in a 60x30 mortenthaleri are pearls before swine though.
That's mainly because they are still mostly wild caught and go for 15-20€ a piece.

Noted Mac, there are also some Nannostomus beckfordi available at a LFS which are certainly much cheaper yet seem very interesting in their own right.

Get a sixpack and that's it. Try to get either only males or a surplus of females.
