hi all,my nanacara female has spawned with a young male that was left in with her,one of three youngsters i missed when moving the rest of her fry, they are about 4 months old now.funny thing is she keeps moving the eggs, spawned on 18th,moved them two times on 19th,and a further two times on the 20th,has any one else had this happen to them,if so any idea why she does it, i have never seen this happen before. cheers dave:)

I have spawned Nannacara anomala many dozens of times but I've never seen them move unhatched eggs. Are you sure of when the eggs were laid and that she isn't actually moving newly hatched fry? The newly hatched larvae look like eggs with a tail so it may be that is what you are seeing and that behavior is normal.

Some cichlids that spawn in the open will move the substrate ( leaf) that holds the egg plaque but I haven't seen, or heard of fish moving attached adhesive eggs until they start to wiggle & lose their adhesion. I wouldn't poo-poo the possibility outright however.
