Looks great... and very compact. WIth the number of different fish you get I had thought that you had a lot more tanks. What is the 'JBL Tormec' you are using in the water tank? Any specific type of dried leaf?

Thanks Ted. Actually, i have gone downsizing for the number of tanks,
and replaced those tanks by a chair and the water tank... :)

The dried leaves are leaves of "Terminalia catappa L."

JBL Tormec is the activated peat granulate by JBL.

where do you grow out your fry blue?

Shelf 2.5, the Big Tank, and Shelf 1.3 are places for the fry. :)
(The fry in Shelf 1.3 have just moved out, and the tank is very vacant...)

Quite a lot of fry are living together with the parent fish, too.

I also have some smaller tanks scattered in other places for keeping fry
if needed... :)

David, Yorky, Seb: I have just checked and it is probably a problem
of the webserver where i stored the files. It will probably be ON again soon... i will keep an eye on it.. thanks for letting me know and i am sorry for it.

P.S.: Dear Yorky: Thanks much for your kind blessing :)

Wow!
To have a setup like this in HK.. its a luxury!
You must be a big Brasil customer..for them to give you the calendar.
hehe..
I do find that small individual tanks are much better, although water change becomes a hassle.

Thanks Yorky. Yes, smaller tanks are actually better. The majority of my tanks on the shelves have the following dimensions:
8"x18"x 12" (4 tanks a layer), 11"X20x12" (3 tanks a layer)...

To be frank,
it is quite a luxury and i am so glad that my wife gives me the "permit" to do so.. hehee... i actually used to devote a room for all the tanks while my wife complained to me saying that i always disappeared and stayed in that room... so, the tanks were moved out to one of the living rooms and my wife will see me more often.. hehhee :)

Nice setup you got there blueblue. Very compact. I printed the pictures for more detailed study, lol :). Maybe I will make a little copy of this at home.

Now a question. Do you have problem keeping couples together in such small tanks? Do you normally keep your apistos pair wise or do you have to separate them when not wanting to breed them?

Just curious, regards / Chris

Thanks Chris :)

The tanks are actually not small (among the Asian hobbyists).
A typical tank for a pair in my shelves has a size capacity of
16-20 liter (the 18" tank), and i do have bigger tanks for more
demanding fish (from 25-35 liter). Each tank is usually assigned to
a pair of fish, and i may use plastic planes to divide the tanks into parts for,
say, separating the male fish, the female fish, and the fry.

In Asia, many hobbyists just keep a pair of apistos in a
tank with a few liters of water... so, my setting is already called BIG...
(What you saw from the photos were the front view, and the tanks
are actually very "deep" towards the rear part of the shelf :)

Hey blueblue

That's quite interesting. How often do you do waterchanges? Do you keep the males and females together after spawning?

I am currently using 60cmx35cmx32.5cm tanks for my pairs. 45cm would be great though, I would be able to fit more tanks in

Thanks for the answer.

Obviously the view on small tanks are a little bit different compared to Sweden. I have 54-liters tanks that are 60*30*30 cm. This is considered really small, the opinion on most swedish aquaristic forums are that no fish would ever be able to survive in 16-20 liter tanks, no matter of aquaristic experience of the owner.

However you prove them all wrong here, and from your posts here I know you have excellent Apistogrammas, so there is absolutely no critic from my side.

I might copy this setup, as I wrote earlier, since I really like the compact setup. I only need to find suitable shelf, will go looking for it this afternoon.
Let's see later how it turns out, I will post a picture if it is good :) .

Regards / Chris
