Hello all, this is my first post here although I've been following this forum for quite some time. I finally purchased my first two apistos last night, it is very difficult to find apistos of good quality where I live. They were labelled as Orange Flash Sunburst Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlids ( lol quite the mouthful). They appear to be Cacatuoides of the gold variety, very beautiful fish.
I was hoping for a male and a female, but they are too young for a noob like me to sex, so I picked out the biggest and the smallest of the group. The bigger one is around 3/4" the smaller about 1/2". The larger one is showing a very small amount of orange fading into it's fins and also a small amount of black on the leading edge of the ventral fins. This makes me think it may be a female. The smaller one shows no color in the fins and a more pale (almost white color).
Let me know what you guys think, your input is much appreciated. The first two photos are of the larger one the last is of the smaller.
