The best answer I have heard was...you'll know when they breed...bolivian rams are hard to sex, so once their papilla is out, then you will know.

how do u start it what helps ( temp. down? lower water level?)

I understand that Bolivian Rams are 'late bloomers' & usually do not start breeding until they are well over 1 year old. Time & patience are the key - along with good food and good water quality, of course.
