Hey everyone, so im a newish Apisto keeper, i love them, they are amazing.
Ive had fry since April, and i just left them in the tank as i never planned on breeding, they are thriving! i seem to have alot more males than females.
the entire time ive had them the Male(Father) has been fine and swimming about normally, but for the past week or 2 he has decided to hide under my driftwood in a cave and he wont come out, he just stays in there on the bottom against the substrate, i dont know why?
The fry are developing quite well and have taken over ownership of the tank, i also have 1 German Blue Ram in the tank, its a 45 gallon tank, there are approx 30 fry. i have also noticed the fry have started to develop aggression towards one another, which was expected obviously . could this be the reason the male has decided to hide? he wont even come out to eat. i know my tank parameters are fine.
im thinking i should start selling my fry? or should i set up another tank and cycle it, and then get the fry into the new tank, to grow them out more before selling? This is my first time so i truly have no clue how to handle this, the fry are not aggressive towards the father, but towards eachother.
if anoyone could help me figure out whats wrong with the male, and what i should do this would be very much appreciated.
