Little temporary apistogramma biotope aquarium

Hello!

This is my little temporary apistogramma cacatuoides double red aquarium.
It is housing 1 pair of this beautiful fishes.

Aquarium - 40x25x25 (I know - recommendation is 50x30 but for now it is OK)
Filter - internal Wave Filpo twin 200 l/h
Heater - room temperature - 24-25C
Lights - daylight
Hardscape - quartz sand; roots from platan tree; quercus leaves; coconut shelf.

Plan is to get a bigger aquarium and maybe put some little fish in aq, i.e. nannostomus marginatus.

I like the platan roots! They have a very natural look to them. How long do they last in water before they rot?

Yes, platan roots look very nice to me too.
To be honest I do not know how long do they last because it is my first platan roots. I don't know anyone who used them before.

I just had a luck of finding this nice peaces of driftwood.
If apistos are happy I am happy!

Nice setup! Where do you get plantan roots? Is that just in the UK or something that might grow in the US?

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platanus it could be found in US.
I found some roots in the park, by the fallen tree.

Plantanus = Sycamore which is a hardwood.

Before few hours ago I isolated female in mesh loundry bag in the same aquarium, because I caught her eating little fish.

Hi

I do not think she eat the fry, she takes them in her mouth if he moves away and spit them.

Yes, she was doing that before but than she stopped spiting them and I moved her in isolation.
