I finally got some of these fish and they are definitely some kind of Laetacara. I just don't know which one? Everything listed online in the way of pictures seems to be wrong. So whats right? My fish(12) look identical to this fish.

Mike, thanks for the ID. I was hoping they were the real L. curv. The fish were sold to me as such but wholesalers don't always have fish listed correctly. Only 2 of the 12 fish I have are as colorful as that picture. -Bradley

As I said, "fish in the link are the red form of L. curviceps." If this isn't a photo of the fish that you actually have, then there is a possibility that you have a form of A. dorsigera, too. Over the past few years more "L. curviceps" sold commercially are actually a blue color morph of L. dorsigera.

I think that the fish in the photos represent the blue form of L. dorsigera. They show more vertical bars on the caudal peduncle than appear on L. curviceps. Please, someone, correct me if I'm wrong!

I'm with you Mike. Almost certainly not curviceps IMHO.

That's a nice suprise, your dwarf cichlid gets about 9 inches and starts eating it's tankmates. :)

1>lucky for me I have the tank space and a few of the other club members took some so, it worked out.

2> And it doesn't really mater to me what form i have. I'm very happy to have just gotten them(Laetacara). They are in a 90 with a bunch of ghost pearlscale angles. Wife is happy with angels so all is well. Tank was re-set with soil about 6 weeks ago so hopefully it will come back into its glory sooner than later.
