Not necessarily. In a suitably decorated, sizeable tank with the right species and sexes of Apisto it might work. Takes a lot of leaf litter and footprint, I can imagine. And I would rather combine them with a single male than with a female.

They won't eat the eggs or frys and I've bred a few species with them but i can't say if they cause stress or make the female nervous.
