keeping apistos with south america killies

Has any body ever kept these the two together, if u have please tell me how it worked out?

I am planning on having around 4 killies per pair of apistos

I have tried it several times before and it worked out fine, in regards to the combination of species. But I had a problem with the killies taking swan-dives out of the tank. I don't keep lids on my tanks, so it wasn't the best tank resident for me.
