i have these fish in quarentine, i got them on sunday. they are a pair, they had laid eggs in the store, and were agressively defending them. my water is ph 7.8, gh8, kh 4, and i plan to put them into a 35 gal community with a pair of rams, a single female borelli, 9 rummy's 9 glowlights, and 5 pencilfish. i will be softening my water with a little peat. do you think this is a good idea? i get my ph down to about 6.8 to 7.0 with the peat and some driftwood. tank is not planted. substrate is sand. filter will be an ac 300 wih the impellor from a 150 to slow the flow, and a corner box filter.
do aggies like the water particularly soft? breeding is not essential, just for 'show'.
